Rothbury and Druridge Bay Fitness Centres to reopen

Druridge Bay Fitness Centre and Rothbury Pool and Gym will be reopening their doors to the public on November 7.

The centres have been closed due to the coronavirus pandemic, and will re-open with stringent new hygiene, cleaning and social distancing practices in place to keep customers and staff safe and well.

To ensure that numbers in the sessions are limited and social distancing can be adhered to, all sessions must be pre-booked online. This can be done via the Active Northumberland website www.activenorthumerland.org.uk  or by ringing 01670 620200.

Northumberland County Councillor, Jeff Watson, cabinet member with responsibility for Healthy Lives said:
“Sport and leisure centres have a key role to play during this pandemic as exercise plays such a huge role in improving people’s physical and mental health.

The Active Northumberland  sports centres have been reopened on a phased basis across the county to ensure the health and safety of staff and customers. I’d like to thank local residents in the Rothbury and Hadston areas for their patience and I hope the thorough safety measures that have been put in place will provide them with the confidence to pick up their fitness routines with us where they left off in March.”

Mark Warnes, Acting Chief Executive of Active Northumberland said:
“ While the centres have been closed we have been working very hard behind the scenes to implement many new health and hygiene measures to keep both our customers and staff safe.
“We have been following government guidance and industry advice and have a really robust system in place which I hope our customers will find reassuring.”
